Het leek me wel leuk om een centraal trucjes-topic hier op HP te openen.

Ik heb vanmiddag een aantal filmpjes bekeken van honden die allerlei trucjes deden en toen begon het weer te kriebelen om mijn honden van alles te leren.

Een trucje leren is een leuke bezigheid voor je hond. De hond moet nadenken, krijgt zelfvertrouwen en wat lekkers voor de moeite..

In dit topic mag alles geplaatst worden wat met honden trucjes te maken heeft. Zo kun je laten zien wat jouw hond kan, tips vragen voor het aanleren van nieuwe trucjes. Of misschien zelfs een volledige uitleg voor het aanleren van een trucje plaatsen.

een paar kleine regels:

- Trucs moeten veilig zijn voor de hond

- Enkel trainen op een positieve manier

- Houdt het gezellig :)

Helaas wel in het engels. Ik heb nog geen nederlandstalige uitleg kunnen vinden. Uitleg bestaat uit 2 delen:

Maeby and I are going to show you how to teach your dog to retrieve a tissue. This is a very fun but pretty complex behavior. When teaching your dog to retrieve a tissue you're basically teaching them to retrieve a stationary object. So we're going to start with something that the dog's more likely to want to pick up in their mouth like a toy.

So we'll start with this tennis ball here. I'm going to have Maeby do a sit and stay while I set this ball on the floor. And then I will release her to go get it. When she brings it back to me I'm going to say good and then reward her.

Okay. Good. And I'm rewarding her with a treat. Sit. Stay. Okay. Good.

Once your dog is easily retrieving the toy while it's stationary, so I'm not throwing it for her, then you're going to be ready to move on to the next step. Now, I tried to go right into having her retrieve a tissue, and I found that Maeby would shred that tissue and get pieces of it stuck in her mouth. So it really wasn't working for me. So I had to do a middle step where I used a washcloth, similar to a tissue but a little easier for her to grab on to.

So, I'm going to repeat the same process that I did with the tennis ball but now with a washcloth.

Okay. Good.

Now, if the dog shakes the rag or they run and play with it you're not going to reward that. You want the dog to simply pick it up and bring it right to you. Otherwise, they will shred that tissue. So, you'd repeat this a number of times with the washcloth.

Okay. Good.

Wanneer je hond het wil verscheuren kun je dit natuurlijk ook prima afleren.

Now we're going to put the washcloth inside of the box of tissues. That way, whoops, she'll be learning how to retrieve something out of the box, and to actually pull it out. Okay. Oh, it's a little stuck. Good. But she did it. Sit.

Okay. Good. Now that she's doing well with the washcloth, we're going to do the real trick and do it with the tissue. I'm going to position the tissue so she can easily get hold of it. Sit. Place it on the floor. Release her to go get it. Okay. Good. Again, if she were to shake it or run away with it, I wouldn't reward her.

Now, it makes it pretty fun with this exercise if you make the verbal cue a sneeze. So, since she knows the release of "okay", I'm going to start to transition over to using a verbal cue of "achoo". So, what I'm going to do is say, "Achoo," and then I'm going to say, "Okay." With enough repetition, she'll start retrieving when I say, "Achoo."

Sit. Achoo. Okay. If the dog doesn't do it, we'll wait. Good. Sometimes you get funny behaviors like that. You're just not going to reward when they don't do what you want. We'll try it again. Achoo. Okay. Good. Good girl. Achoo. Good. And that's how you teach your dog to retrieve a tissue.
