It came to me that everytime i lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them
and every new dog who comes in my life gifts me with a piece of there heart.
If i live long enough  all the components of my heart will be dog and i will be come as generous and loving as they are

Hond zijn...

Niet iedereen beschouwd ons als huisdier,
of als lieve vriend.

Maar ''zo trouw zijn als een hond'' 
die titel hebben ''wij'' verdiend!   

Dat is wat wij zijn,

Van groot tot klein!

Massa's mensen zijn voor ons slechts als een waas...

want wij zien maar 1 iemand..

En dat is onze baas!

Zijn wij dom of beperkt?
Dat een vriendelijk woord of een zachte aai ons al zo kan bekoren?

Of bezitten wij nog dat stukje liefde en geluk,
die de mens al lang is verloren?....

En eentje die ik eerder voorbij zag komen hier op het forum, weet niet meer van wie die was:

Dit vind ik een van de mooiste die ik ooit al ben tegen gekomen, heel pakkend het is wel in het engels
het is wel klein op mijn profiel kan je hem in het groot zetten ik weet niet hoe dat hier moet

Wauw! Heel mooi!

Once I was a lonely dog, just looking for a home.
I had no place to go, No one to call my own.
I wandered up & down the streets, In rain, in heat & snow.
I ate what ever I could find, I was always on the go.

My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached with pain.
And no one stopped to give a pat or gently say my name.
I never saw a loving glance, I was always on the run,
for people thought that hurting me really lots of fun.

And then one day I heard a voice, so gentle, kind & sweet
and arms so soft reached down to me & took me off my feet.

"No one again will hurt you" was whispered in my ear.
"You'll have a home to call your own where you know no fear."
You'll be dry, you will be warm. You'll have enough to eat.
And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet.

I was afraid I must admit, I've lived so long in fear,
I can't remember when I let a human come so near.
And as she tended to my wounds & bathed & brushed my fur
she told me about the Rescue Group & what it meant to her.

She said "we are a circle, a line that never ends,
and in the center there is you protected by new friends
and all around you are the ones that check the pounds,
and those who share their home after you have been found.

And all the other folk are searching near & far
to find a perfect home for you, where you can be a star.
There is a family that is waiting patiently,
and pretty soon we'll find them, just you wait & see.

And then they'll join our circle, they help to make it grow,
so there'll be room for more like you, who have no place to go.
I waited very patiently. The days they came and went,
today's the day I thought, my family will be sent.

Then just when I began to think it wasn't meant to be
there were people standing there just gazing down at me.
I knew them in a heart beat, I could tell they felt it too.
They said; "We've been waiting for a special dog like you"

Now every night I say a prayer to all the gods that be,
"Thank you for the life I live & all you've given me"
But most of all protect the dogs in the pound & on the street. And send a Rescue Person to lift them off their feet."

My dogs live here, they're here to stay.
You don't like pets? be on your way
They share my home, my food, my space,
This is their home, this is their place.

... You will find dog hair on the floor,
they will alert you at the door,
They may request a little pat,
A simple "no" will settle that.

It gripes me when I hear you say
"just how is it you live this way"?
They smell, they shed, there in the way,
WHO ASKED YOU? is all I can say...

They love me more than anyone,
my voice is like the rising sun
they merely they here me say
"C'mon all its time to go and play"

Then tails wag and faces grin,
they bounce, they hop and make a din.
they never say, "no time for you"
they're always there, to go and do.

and if I'm sad? they're by my side,
and if Í'm mad? they circle wide
and if I laugh, they laugh with me
they understand, they always see.

So once again, I say to you
come visit me, but know this too...
