Trotse baas van Trees. Trees is geboren op 24-02-2018. Ze komt uit een nest van 11 puppies. De baas van haar broer(tje) Scotty is ook actief op dit forum. Trees haar moeder is een golden retriever en haar vader is een kruising waar in elk geval iets van een Catelaanse herder in zit. Trees zelf is super zachtaardig en een mega knuffel hond; Ze zit het liefst de hele dag tegen je aan... of gaat daar zitten of liggen waar ikzelf net wil/moet zijn.

Ik had ze zelf ook om wat informatie gevraagd, dat zal ik hier even plakken als je het leuk vindt om te lezen: Hello! Scott's results came back as 50% Golden Retriever 27.2% Siberian Husky 17.7% Brittany 5.1% English Setter Now I want to make it clear that I'm not asking for a retest, and I'm not doubting your result either, I'm just curious! Because Scott's sire (we're sure this is the only sire) has a long, quite rough coat with furnishing, and so did 5 out of Scott's 10 siblings. So I'm wondering, if one parent has 6 breeds in it's genetic makeup, do all breeds make it into it's offspring's makeup every time? Or can it be that there is certain breed DNA in Scott's sire that just didn't make it into Scott? If not, how did the rough hair and furnishings get into Scott's siblings? How many generations will have carried this gene for it to still be present, but not be in any of Scott's breeds? How big is the chance that there is indeed Gos d'Atura Català in Scott's sire, wich you don't test for, but whose DNA is similar to a Brittany or English Setter? Through a process called genetic recombination genetics from mom and dad are shuffled up to create your pup. Like humans, dogs are going to inherit 50% of their DNA from mom, and 50% from dad. However, WHICH 50% they inherit from each parent is random due to the process of genetic recombination, and it will vary even between siblings (which is why siblings look different from each other). For a bit of a longer answer: In a first generation cross between two dog breeds, the puppies will be exactly 50% of each parent breed. This is because each puppy will inherit one of each chromosome from each parent. So, for example, in a cross between a Pomeranian and a Husky, the puppies will inherit 39 chromosomes from their Pom parent, and 39 from their Husky parent. When those puppies grow up and are bred to another, things get a little more complicated. The second generation of puppies still inherit one of each chromosome from each parent, but it's random which parts of the chromosome they are inheriting. So a puppy could inherit more Husky than Pom from their mother and likewise, they could inherit more or less of each breed from their father. In other words, while a puppy may be a quarter of each breed on paper, the genetics rarely work out in exactly those proportions. Since each puppy in the litter is inheriting different parts of their parents' chromosomes, two puppies from the same litter could look very different from each other-- and their breed ancestry percentages could be a little different, too! If that explanation is hard to follow, I would be happy to go through it with you in another way. You can see this at RSPO2 in Scott's Trait section (here: https://my.embarkvet.com/dog/scott5#traits). We see that Scott did not inherit one of the dominant "F" alleles necessary to express that rough coat and furnishings. However, since (as I mentioned) that F allele is dominant, it's possible that his siblings inherited it while he did not. We can't say this without having tested them, however! As we don't offer testing for Gos d'Atura Català at this time, we can't say if Scott inherited any of that in his ancestry. However, as we expand our reference panel and are able to test for Gos d'Atura Català, we would be happy to re-run Scott against that updated reference panel. Make sure you check https://embarkvet.com/breed-list/, as we expand it fairly often (usually every 6 months to a year, when possible). I hope this helps provide a little more clarification.
